Firefighters were called to Lower Treluswell this morning when two houses and a commercial property were affected by flooding after a stream overflowed its banks.

One appliance from Penryn attended just after 10am, and crews used small gear to clear drains in the area and pump out the premises.

John Smith, who owns one of the houses affected, said: "It was up to the top of my wellies, but my house has a sump and a flood gate, so that helped.

"There was a big torrent from the top fields, they just can't cope. We were lucky we had the fire brigade out to pump everything out."
