A local celebrity on The Lizard, known for his characteristic hair, has taken on a new look after having all seven of his dreadlocks chopped off.

Perran Pryor, 23, had been growing his 32-inch dreads for the last seven years.

More than 30 people from the village filled the Witchball pub, where the cutting took place, to see the famous locks being chopped.

Perran’s mum Debbie was on hand to remove the first of the impressively long dreads in front of a packed pub of supporters.

Other locals also had their chance to get involved by donating money and cutting off a dread.
So far the event is estimated to have raised more than £250.

Perran said: “I’m very pleased with how it turned out and the amount of money I raised for the RNLI.”

Perran chose to donate the money to the RNLI, specifically the Lizard Lifeboat, for the work they do in the local area.

His love for the sea and surfing is another factor as to why he chose to donate to the RNLI.

Perran is already a familiar face both locally and nationally, after he won BBC’S Total Wipeout competition before going on to claim The Legends title.
