Firefighters were called to Melbur Pit, Scareswater near St Dennis this morning after a report of a trapped deer.
The RSPCA and fire crews from St Dennis, St Austell and Bodmin were drafted in just after 7am following a report of a deer stuck in a clay mica pit measuring approximately 100m circular in diameter.
Water rescue and rope rescue equipment crews prepared an inflatable rescue path and lines to effect the rescue and used two inflatable rescue pads with two fire personnel in order to reach the deer.
The deer was successfully rescued from the pit and was released into the wild.
