Two people and a dog were rescued by an RNLI crew when their open boat was left without power off Black Rock at the entrance to Falmouth Harbour on Friday.

The 13 foot Orkney Spinner had suffered engine failure and a passing vessel had relayed the situation to Falmouth Coastguard, who had requested the assistance of Falmouth's inshore lifeboat.

An RNLI spokesperson said: "Falmouth inshore lifeboat was returning from the RNLI Coastal Safety Event at St Mawes when Falmouth Coastguard requested that the inshore lifeboat divert to assist an open boat which had been reported broken down off Black Rock at the entrance to Falmouth Harbour.

The lifeboat arrived on scene at just after 8pm, and passed a line to the vessel before towing it to Mylor before 9pm.
