Police are appealing for information after a robbery at a post office in St Austell.

A man entered the Spar store in Brockstone Road and placed a bag on the kiosk demanding cash shortly before 9.10pm on Saturday, September 27.

The female staff member handed over some cash and the man fled.

The suspect is described as slim and he was wearing a dark hooded top with his face covered, black washed out jeans and black trainers.

Detective Sergeant Steve Reid, investigating officer, said: “Thankfully no-one was physically injured during this incident.

“Although there is nothing to suggest this is part of a series, I would encourage all local retailers to consider their own crime prevention and staff safety measures, such as installing CCTV and not having staff working alone.

“Officers are continuing with enquiries to locate the offender and would welcome any information from the public."

Anyone with information that could assist with the investigation is asked to call police on 101, quoting reference CR/110216/14, or alternatively call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
