Parents in Helston jumped at the chance to have their baby create a work of art for the final time this autumn.

Helston Museum hosted a popular “baby paint” session, which have been held fortnightly up until the end of this month.

For the final one families filled a room of the museum, where the little ones could get stuck in with paint brushes - although many brought a whole new meaning to the term “baby painting”, with more paint on themselves than the paper.

The sessions were started by Falmouth Art Gallery more than ten years ago and proved so popular that not only did they become a weekly activity but have now also gone on tour, to Helston.

It is part of the gallery's 'Cultural Triangle' project, paid for through the Heritage Lottery Fund, which sees events take place within galleries and museums inside the “triangle” as it is shown on a map.

The sessions are run by one of the gallery's award winning workshop leaders Glyn Winchester, with help from volunteers.

Sessions are open for babies and toddlers from eight months through to two and a half years.

Parents can still take their children to the Falmouth sessions, held on either a Monday or a Wednesday during school term times. For information on baby paint contact Donna Williams on 01326 313863 or info@falmouthartgallery.com
