A Budock Water builder was caught as a drink driver after police stopped his van because he was not wearing a seat belt, and then realised he was drunk.
At Truro Magistrates’ Court Adam Edward Burnard, aged 43, of Watersmead Parc, Budock Water, pleaded guilty to drink driving at Falmouth on October 3 when he tested at 67 mcg, nearly twice the legal limit.
Alison May, for the CPS, said he was stopped at 10.40pm and told the police he had had a couple of pints after work at 4pm.
He had a previous conviction for being in charge of a vehicle, with excess alcohol.
His solicitor, William Hazelton, said he had been out celebrating becoming a grandfather. The pub was about a mile from where he lived.
Burnard was fined £200 and £105 costs and surcharge and banned from driving for 22 months.
