A pint of a beer and a whisky was enough to put a motorcyclist over the limit to drive in Penryn on September 23, and at Truro Magistrates’ Court he pleaded guilty to being a drink driver.

Marc Galbraith, 36, of Glasney Place, Penryn, was stopped by police at around 11pm after they noticed a rear light on his machine was not working. He failed their roadside screening test and later registered 63 mcg, nearly twice the limit.

Galbraith told the magistrates that being taken to court was probably a good thing for him because he was now determined to quit drinking.

He was fined £160 and £105 costs and surcharge and banned from driving for 18 months.
