Today could well be the warmest Halloween on record, continuing a "remarkable year" of high temperatures, weather experts have said, however the question most people want answering is, will it be wet?

The mercury could hit an unseasonably warm 19C in Cornwall, six degrees higher than is normal for this time of year.

However while the temperature may be higher than normal, will the rain fall on revellers. The answer, it seems, is yes it will. The forecast is for a 96 per cent of rainfall in West Cornwall from 6pm to midnight.

So far, 2014 is the warmest year on record, following consistently mild temperatures which have continued into autumn.

Forecaster Laura Caldwell said: "Tomorrow is expected to break the record to date for the last day of October.

"Right across England and Wales it will be warm."

"It's been fairly warm for an October in general.

"The whole year to date has been the warmest on record so far. It's been a remarkable year for above-average temperatures."

Next week the weather will begin to cool and temperatures will return to the average of around 10 or 11C for November.
