The Rotary Club of Helston Lizard recently held a harvest auction which was hosted by Alec and Lowenna Robertson at the Black Swan at Gweek.

Organised by Rotarian Roy Treloar, the auction table overflowed with fresh produce, cakes, bread and other donated items.

The auctioneer, Rotarian Ivor Mann, led the proceedings which raised £830. The money has been divided between Gweek Silver Band, who played during the event, and local Rotary charities. Roy thanked Alec and Lowenna and their patrons for making it a successful and fun event.

Members welcomed Tony Richards, musical director, and Alec Robertson, patron, of Gweek Silver Band, to a recent meeting where they were presented with a cheque for £415 from the proceeds of the auction.

During October last year, members of the Rotary Club of Helston Lizard planted daffodil bulbs around the Coronation Boating Lake. Thanks to the donation of more bulbs by Rotarian Chris Butterill the club has been at it again.

A group of members have planted more bulbs in other areas around the lake which will enhance the display next spring.
