The end of the year will mark the end of an era for one Helston shop, which has served generations of expectant mothers.
Joy Williams Baby & Nursery is to close on December 31, on the eve of its 60th anniversary year.
The store in Meneage Street has been helping families of Helston and the surrounding community pick out their prams and furnish their nurseries since 1955.
Generations of the same family have visited the shop over the decades to pick out their pram, cot and other nursery items, with the shop’s name known across the county for its personal service.
Signs in the window of the shop this week advertise a closing down sale over the coming weeks.
The closure is tied in with the expansion of JC Williams (Furnishers of Helston), part of the same family business, which will take up the space with its larger range.
