Falmouth’s newest supermarket has officially opened it doors with help of pupils from St Francis and St Mary’s Schools.
The children joined James Semmens, manager of the new Co-operative food store which has been created on the site of the former Clipper Way pub at Boslowick following an £800,000 investment by the company. Eighteen jobs have been created.
The store has a sales area of around 2,300 sq ft and will offer customers a wide selection of fresh and chilled products, an in-store bakery and an extensive wine range.
The new store aims to become a hub for the community, with a “community pioneer” appointed as part of a new programme that sees members of the store team with an additional remit to foster a strong involvement in community activity, from volunteering opportunities to helping develop solutions to meet local needs.
James Semmens said: “We’re excited about welcoming customers into our new store. The Co-operative is a community retailer and we are committed to playing a real role in local life.
“I’m delighted to welcome children from St Francis and St Marys Primary Schools to share in our special day, and to play a key role in the opening.”
