Two members of Falmouth Coastguard Rescue Team showed that they are there to help even away from the sea after stopping to help an elderly man who had collapsed on Western Terrace.
On their way home from a training session on Sunday, the team member and a Coastguard officer stopped to help the 87 year old man who had collapsed after losing consciousness briefly.
Team members rendered first aid to the casualty, keeping him warm and dry until the arrival of the ambulance service. They then helped with the movement of the casualty from the pavement into the ambulance.
The man was taken to RCHT at Treliske
A spokesman said: "Coastguard, not just nine to five, not just coast in this instance. We can use our training in any manner of situation. This year to date, team members have assisted at two RTC's - one serious and also one 'off patch' job in North Devon.
