Five years after appearing in Falmouth Carnival as part of a tribute to dance troupe Diversity, young Neo Morgan got the chance to meet his idols at a Dance Academy held at Butlins in Minehead.
Neo, aged nine, and his mum Linzi, who live in Penryn, jumped at the chance to attend the academy little realising that Neo’s carnival appearance in 2009 would again be a talking point.
The youngster had worn his Diversity outfit and his nan, Maureen Summerhayes, of Falmouth, had taken a photo of Neo in the carnival along with her to Butlins. She showed that to a Butlin’s team member who passed it on to Diversity’s manager and memories were reignited.
At the time of the carnival, a video of the parade and of Neo rehearsing in his nan’s conservatory were uploaded onto YouTube which was seen by one of Diversity’s dancers who commented on it and shared it on the group’s official website.
At Butlins, Neo was invited to meet Ashley Banjo and the rest of Diversity after being shown the carnival photograph. They have now promised to send the St Mary’s School pupil one of their Transformer costume sleeves.
To end the perfect weekend, Neo won a golden ticket which meant he got to dance on stage in front of 2,000 people and his family had front row seats.
