A large group of students from Camborne Science and International Academy spent six jam-packed days in Italy recently enjoying a once-in-a-lifetime skiing trip.

Led by PE teacher Martin Woolcock, the 55 students travelled to Prato Nevoso in the Italian Alps to experience one of the region's most exciting resorts.

“The area stretches from the village at 1500m up to 2300m on the Mondole Mountain and our hotel was set right on the ski slopes,” said Martin. “We spent up to six hours each day skiing to make the most of the stunning surroundings.”

An array of après ski activities provided the entertainment each evening, delighting students who were given the chance to try something new.

“We had a really enjoyable time and were given the opportunity to take part in night skiing, snowboarding and tubing,” said Harry Clemo, who's in year eight. “At the end of each day we were really tired because we were so active and busy having fun.”

Highlights of the trip were the breathtaking scenery and the ski instructors who went out of their way to provide an exciting and stimulating experience for all groups.

“Trips like this one provide such a unique learning experience,” said Ian Kenworthy, principal at CSIA. “Rising to new challenges and living alongside their peers helps students to improve their skills and increase their confidence, which is critical to so many areas of their development.”
