Residents on the Longfield estate in Falmouth are celebrating after a bus shelter that was removed a decade ago has finally been reinstated.
The shelter, near the bottom of the main estate road, had originally been removed after complaints that it had become a focus for antisocial behaviour. However, after years of residents being forced to wait for buses in all weather, a new one has been installed.
Resident Maggie Wood said: "There were so many people standing in the rain waiting for buses, including one elderly lady who is 100 and who stills gets out an about, we really needed a shelter. The support for it was marvellous, more than I thought it would be."
Falmouth and Cornwall Council member, Councillor David Saunby had been championing the residents' calls for a new shelter and the money eventually came from grants from both councils.
