It is now clear that there are eight people injured following the overnight collision near Helston yesterday.

Three people are currently at Derriford Hospital with serious injuries although these are not believed to be life threatening.

Five people were admitted to the royal Cornwall hospital, Treslike, two have subsequently been discharged and three remain in hospital one with potentially life threatening injuries.

The injuries happened after a vehicle carying nine young people was involved in a collision near to the Goonhilly Earth station on the Lizard Cornwall at around 00.20 yesterday morning.

This vehicle was a Volkwagon Golf and police are keen to hear from members of the public who may have information regarding this vehicle and it's occupants prior to this incident.

Did you see this vehicle overloaded with passengers or travelling around the area last night? Police do not believe any other vehicle was involved at this time.

Five people were airlifed by the Search and Rescue helicopter from nearby RNAS Culdrose to Derriford hospital one it now appears with serious and life changing injuries whilst others travelled by road ambulance.

An investigation is underway by the Serious Collisions Investigations Unit and anyone with information which would be helpful to the enquiry are asked to contact Police on the non emergency number 101 qouting Log 31 27/06/2015.
