STATE of the art student accommodation left empty over the summer will not go to waste as the university at Penryn opens its doors to the public.

During July and August when students leave for their summer holiday, Falmouth University opens the doors of its accommodation at Tremough to the public.

Known as Penryn Summer Apartments the lodge type, accommodation in the student village has 1,452 bedrooms to accommodate multiple groups of travellers as well as contractors looking for a base to work from over the summer months.

Launching their new website this week, penrynsummerapartments.co.uk, Heather Fitzgerald who heads up the Penryn Summer Apartments team said: “Our team has worked incredibly hard to promote Penryn Summer Apartments for this summer.

"Our brand new website offers people the opportunity to follow our blog, get advice on things to do in Cornwall, get discount vouchers for local attractions as well as information about the Cornish summer events calendar.

"Last year we were thrilled to see an increase in our summer occupancy by 30% and this year with our visitors able to book with us direct through our new website, we hope we can make the experience that much better and see more customers returning next year.”

Debbie Lilly, head of operations at Penryn Summer Apartments said: "All our rooms are modern en-suite double or twins. "We don’t have any minimum night stay requirements so we tend to see a lot of groups and contractors use us as their base to stay as they explore and work around Cornwall.”
