Two renowned body painting artists have created an amazing camouflaged jungle scene on the back of a model in the Eden Project’s Rainforest Biome.

Nicola Langridge and Justine Darwent created the scene – including a toucan, leopard and iguana – on model Pete Langridge.

The piece was designed to blend into the Biome’s foliage, rendering Pete almost invisible to the casual observer.

It took the artists four hours to create the piece and the work gained lots of interest from passing visitors.

It was painted as a preview of the fifth annual BodyFactory International Body Painting Festival in 2015, which will be held at Eden on October 10 and 11.

Body painting artists will compete to create the most spectacular pictures. There will also be exhibitions and demonstrations taking place around the site on the day, themed around the exotic surroundings of Eden.

There will be 140 people attending the event, including artists, models, guests and photographers from all over the UK, as well as Belgium, Germany, Gibraltar and the Canary Islands.

BodyFactory is an international, biennial body painting festival that encourages collaboration between body painters, models and photographers to create incredible, thought provoking artwork on the human canvas.

BodyFactory was set up by Nicola Langridge and her husband Pete following a small gathering of local painters in Cornwall in 2010. The event has kept on growing ever since and the move to Eden is expected to inspire even more people to take part and find out about this innovative art form.

Nicola said: "We are proud to be in partnership with the globally-renowned Eden Project, providing an exceptional backdrop to the colourful and artistic world of body painting.

“BodyFactory is the only body painting festival worldwide that has no theme for the competition day. It is also unique in the way the winners are selected - by public vote rather than industry professionals on a judging panel. We hope to give visitors a rare insight into the creative world of body art.”

At 11am on the Saturday morning visitors will have the chance to watch artists at work in the Core Suite, doing body painting in preparation for the competition. Then on Sunday there will be body painting demonstrations around site.
