There will be a white nearly-Christmas in Truro this year as snow falls in Boscawen Street on the day before Christmas Eve.

On Wednesday December 23, the street will be transformed into a winter wonderland as the white stuff descends during the last late night shopping event of the year.

Totally Truro will bring snow canons and hundreds of snowballs to the city for an evening of light-hearted festive fun on the night before Christmas Eve.

The fake snow will be falling intermittently between 5pm and 9pm to help people feel extra festive as they tick-off the last of their lists in time for the big day.

Neil Scott, Truro BID manager, said: “On the eve of Christmas Eve we couldn’t resist offering something a little different as an accompaniment to the serious last minute gift shopping that will be happening in the city centre – it promises to be a fun activity for families, shoppers, local businesses and residents in the heart of Truro.”

There will also be a Snowball Zone positioned on Boscawen Street in an enclosed area, where it will be £2 per person for a five minute play. The snowballs are made of a soft polyester mix material so won’t break up or disintegrate after being thrown - which means more fun and less mess.

Characters from the movie Frozen will be meeting and greeting people as they enter Boscawen St and Olaf may even join in at the Snowball zone.

Camborne Youth Brass Band and Rock Choir will be performing traditional Christmas songs and carols throughout the evening and there will be a selection of local food traders serving up delicious festive treats to top off the experience on the last late night shopping evening in Truro before Christmas.
