Penryn Town Council has raised no objections to plans to more than double the size of Hawkins Motors' showroom on Brown's Hill.

The proposal is to demolish an existing valet building and replace it with a new "high quality car showroom," which the company has said will "facilitate further investment and expansion of an existing business."

The mayor, Mark Snowdon, said: "It's nice to see an existing business that's expanding. They have got the room."

Councillor Gill Grant added; "It's a family business."

Councillor Mary May did question whether the expansion would increase water run off at a point in Penryn which is known to flood in bad weather, but Mr Snowdon pointed out that the site is already covered with a hard surface so there would be no difference.
