SO members of Falmouth Town Council have had their own "Gang of Four" moment, attempting to form a little crew after feeling shunned by committees.

Perhaps, instead of throwing their toys out of the pram, the four councillors in question should have looked at why they were - in their opinion - underrepresented.

Your pal the Skipper has to wonder if Councillor McCarthy was the ring leader of this tin-pot coup, or if he was put up to it. In his case at least perhaps a bit more experience in the council chamber will help him understand why it’s better to cooperate in local government than to try and create arbitrary divisions.

At town council level, the needs of constituents should trump any petty ambitions or party political differences.

It also appears a bit rich for Councillor Mrs Eva to criticise others of forming ‘"very cliquey groups",’ all the while attempting to set up what amounts to an official clique.

At least common sense won out, with the rest of the council - many of whom have worked late into the evenings for the town - voting it down the proposal.
