A young girl whose grandparents have all died from cancer is preparing to sacrifice her hair to help sufferers her own age.

Rosie-May Shipp, a Mullion School pupil who lives in Gunwalloe, wants to donate her long blonde locks to the Little Princess Trust, to be made into wigs and extensions for children with cancer.

At the same time, she hopes to raise some money to donate along with her hair.

Rosie-May, 12, told the Packet: "I have lost all my grandparents to cancer and know of others that have either died from having it, or felt self conscious about losing their hair to the wicked disease.

"I was wondering what I could do to help; having my hair cut for the Little Princess Trust seems like the best way I could help out, and donating some money would be great too.

"The hair I give will hopefully make a wig or some extensions for another child suffering from cancer. I want to make a child feel confident again."

Arsenal supporter Rosie-May has received lots of support from RNAS Culdrose, where she plays football for the Under 12 Seahawks, as well as fellow members of the Cornwall FA through which she represents the county on the football pitch.

The former Cury Primary pupil has also received donations from school friends and is hoping readers will support her via her Just Giving page justgiving.com/Shelley-Latham

Her mum Shelley Latham said: "I'm very proud of her."
