See things a little differently and challenge your perceptions this May as the artists and designers of tomorrow bring their creations to Truro.

Situated in a striking white marquee in the centre of the city, a temporary gallery will bring inspirational works to the heart of the community, giving a unique opportunity to enjoy the highly creative and individual work made by emerging artists.

This Way Up, the 11th annual exhibition of creativity by students from Truro College, promises to illuminate Truro’s Lemon Quay with a remarkable array of talent from students representing the creative scope offered by courses at the College: from Textiles to Graphic Design, Silversmithing & Jewellery to Fine Art, Ceramics to Product Design and Life Drawing to Photography.

“Visitors to the exhibition will enjoy a wide range of work and will be challenged to look at things differently or from another angle: another way up! This Way Up refers to the artistic journeys that our students have embarked upon, they are discovering their own artistic directions within the creative industries,” explains Mark Dunford, Deputy Team Leader for Art and Design.

Lucia House from Fowey is planning to exhibit a series of emulsion lifts at the show: “I think it’s a really good opportunity to exhibit for the general public to see our work. It will be great to get a lot of recognition earlier on while we are still at college.”

Alix Gallagher from Penzance will be designing a brand and exhibiting hand-printed clothing: “I’m really looking forward to This Way Up; the recognition will be good to start my career.”

With current students having had their work selected by the Royal Society of British Artists for exhibition in London, and alumni studying at prestigious institutions including Bath University, Slade School of Fine Art, London School of Fashion and Edinburgh College of Art, it’s fair to say that there will be plenty of talent for you to discover at this year’s exhibition.

Embrace the chance to discover genuine dedication to art and design as it is shared and celebrated with the community from 24th-28th May.
