Over 30 students from Truro School have signed up to take part in Children’s Hospice South West’s (CHSW) Rainbow Run next month.

The Rainbow Run is a 5k sponsored run happening at RAF St Mawgan on June 26 where participants get showered with different coloured powder paint as they go through paint stations along the route. The event is being sponsored by surf and lifestyle clothing brand Ann’s Cottage and those taking part can walk, jog or run the very colourful 5k. Over 1,000 people have signed up to take part already.

Sarah Mulready, assistant housemistress at Pentreve House, said: “At Truro School we are committed to supporting local charities and it is a privilege to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West. The boarding community, who have in the last two years raised over £1,200 for the charity, are excited to be taking part in this year’s Rainbow Run.

"Last year’s event was a huge success and we are expecting this year's, since it is the charities 25th anniversary, to be even more special. Whether they run, walk, skip or cartwheel the 5km, experience tells us that it will be a great event and we are looking forward to joining the 1,000 plus runners that have already signed up in support of such an amazing charity.”

This is the third year that the event has been held at RAF St Mawgan and last year it raised £86,000 for CHSW, which supports children with life limiting illnesses and their families at its Little Harbour hospice in St Austell.

If you are interested in taking part in the Rainbow Run with friends, family or colleagues then visit chsw.org.uk/rainbownewquay for information and the online registration page. Registration costs £15 for adults and £10 for children aged five to 15, a family of four can register for £40. Everyone is then encouraged to raise as much in sponsorship as they can. Places are limited so those interested in taking part are encouraged to sign up fast to avoid disappointment.
