Around 500 people are expected to run, jog, or walk through Truro on June 28 as the third annual ROC 5K charity fun run starts and finishes at Lemon Quay

As well as raising vital funds and promoting inclusion for local people with learning disabilities,

the ROC 5K has become a unique networking occasion, enabling ROC to connect with the many businesses which get involved.

These contacts can develop into mutually beneficial relationships for the charity, which supports people learning disabilities, and on of those relationships is with Nalders Solicitors.

Cilla James, a partner at Nalders who has already registered to take part in the fun run, said: "As well as sponsoring The ROC 5K, Nalders has chosen ROC to be its charity partner for 2016. As in previous years, the firm is probably fielding the largest team of runners from a multi-site organization. I am delighted we have stepped up our commitment this year to become a major sponsor of this exciting event."

Legal assistant Holly Watts chairs the firm’s staff fundraising committee, and said: "Our recent office wide staff cake bake was our first event for ROC. It was a great success, and great fun, bringing people together from different departments. However, eating all those cakes will come at a cost with extra training for The ROC 5K. We have some great ideas for the future - including the Truro Half Marathon."

ROC’s Calvin Lovelock said: "I have been overwhelmed by Nalder’s multi-faceted support. Cilla and her colleagues have supported the ROC 5K from the beginning and have always actively engaged with the people we support in our open events. We look forward to working with their staff committee and to taking part in the firm’s major events which include their forthcoming golf day and summer drinks party."

The funds raised by The ROC 5K support ROC Welcome, the charity’s vibrant social club based at Truro College. Along with the charity’s other local services, ROC Welcome improves the life opportunities of local people with learning disabilities, including work place inclusion.
