The achievements of outstanding staff, pupils and teachers at Penryn College have been recognised with the unveiling of the college's new 'Wall of Fame'.

Last Wednesday night the school revealed its latest wall of fame in a special ceremony attended by staff, pupils, parents and a selection of people from the local community.

The wall was introduced by the college’s Student Council members back in 2014 to celebrate contributions and achievements from members of the school community who have shown great effort, skill, or courage.

The council organise regular nominations and voting to update the feature twice a year and Wednesday evening saw the latest selection of people recognised for their achievements, from sporting wins to dedication to teaching.

Even those outside of the college could be nominated; Falmouth Fire Brigade and local charity Stanley’s Friends feature on the new wall as the student council felt they both deserved recognition for showing great courage.

The guests were treated to a selection of food and drinks in Kernewek Hall, before speeches from the student council on how they chose the winners, with each receiving a special certificate.

Marie Hunter, head teacher of Penryn College, then invited the attendees upstairs to see the new wall, which included brightly coloured photographs of each of the winners.

Elizabeth Westhead, a teacher at Penryn College and leader of the Student Council said: “The Wall of Fame has been a great success for the student council since its launch.

"It is very exciting to welcome the next cohort of winners, in a special ceremony where they are truly thanked and recognised for their achievements.

"The evening was a great success and now the new wall is unveiled, we look forward to seeing the pictures of the winners as we walk through the hallway over the next few months and will be reminded of the skill, effort or courage that they have shown.”
