Police are appealing for information after a student’s blue and black rucksack was taken from a bus in Penryn. It contains a games console and other personal items.

The theft occurred at about 11.30pm on Friday 6th May 2016. A student on a the U1 bus, which runs from The Moor in Falmouth and goes to the Penryn university campus, was sitting in the wheelchair area of the bus with a friend. The student and his friend left the bus at the Penryn campus just after 10pm, leaving the bag behind.

The bag was subsequently removed from the bus by another passenger who left the bus at a later stop.

PC Helen Newton, Falmouth neighbourhood beat manager, said: “This was a thoughtless act which has left the victim devastated due to the loss of his personal property. We are speaking to witnesses and examining CCTV. I would urge whoever took this bag to speak with me as soon as possible so that we can resolve this issue. This appears to be an isolated incident but I would ask students and other members of the public alike to be aware of their possessions when using public transport.”

CCTV has provided footage of a male passenger who boarded the bus at the Seven Stars public house, in Penryn and alights at Treluswell Roundabout. It is thought that this person could assist the police with their enquiries and so they would like to identify him.

The attached photograph shows this man getting onto the bus. He has distinctive piercings which may be able to aid identification.
