Falmouth's volunteer lifeboat crew was out on Friday to rescue a motor boat after it suffered engine failure near the entrance to the Carrick Roads.

Falmouth Coastguard called the inshore lifeboat shortly before 5pm after reports that the six metre boat Ysella was in trouble between Black Rock and the lighthouse.

Arriving on scene, a lifeboat crewmember was placed on board the boat to help recover the anchor and a tow line was passed to the vessel before it was towed to its mooring off Loe Beach.

An RNLI spokesperson said: "The Ysella which had two persons on board had suffered engine failure due to an electrical fault. The skipper had wisely dropped his anchor and requested assistance for which they were very grateful."
