Police in Falmouth have warned egg throwing teenagers that they could face assault charges if they don't stop.

The force have received reports that a group of young people in a light blue new style Vauxhall Corsa had allegedly been throwing eggs at pedestrians from the moving car's windows.

A spokesperson said: "The occupants who appeared to be a group of youths who were also shouting and swearing at passers-by and have been reported as doing this at various locations around Falmouth. "This might be seen as a prank to those committing it but is extremely upsetting for those at the brunt of the ‘joke’ and is being taken seriously by police."

They warned that if a person was hit by an egg it could be treated as an assault, and they could be liable to criminal charges as a result.

Police are asking for anyone with any information relating to this or other incidents to call on 101 and leave details for PC 6931 Newton.

If anyone witnesses ongoing incidents where someone's safety is at risk they should note the vehicle registration number and call police on 999.
