Police in Falmouth have seized a large haul of evidence following a spate of burglaries over the weekend.

Officers issued a warning to householders over the weekend after a number of homes were burgled in the "central Falmouth area," asking them to report suspicious activity, secure their house, and keep valuables out of view.

Between October 9 and 13, a house on Albany Road was broken into, and photographic equipment and jewellery was stolen.

Then again on October 13, between 5.30pm and 9.20pm, someone broke into a house on Mayfield Road and took gaming consoles and equipment, jewellery and music equipment.

On Sunday afternoon a member of the public spotted a person trying to break into a flat, police were called, and a man was arrested soon after.

On Monday afternoon the force said it had arrested a man in connection with the crimes.

Falmouth Police's Twitter account also tweeted the following: 

A police spokesperson said: "Items of both a priceless sentimental value, including historic war memorabilia, and high monetary value were recovered. The rightful owners to some of the property have been notifed and officers are continuing inquires into the ownership of some of the other property."

  • A 49 year old man from Falmouth has been arrested by police in connection with burglaries in the Falmouth area, and has been bailed until October 19 pending further investigations.
