Parts of Cornwall could experience flurries of snow later this week as the Met Office has warned Arctic air will bring a cold snap to the UK.

The national forecaster has said cold air from Arctic Canada will hit the country from Wednesday evening through into Thursday, bringing snow showers and strong winds which could reach as far as Cornwall.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for snow for parts of the south west, with a line of possible bad weather hitting the north coast of Devon and on into Cornwall around Bude.

Occasional snow showers in that area are predicted from midday on Thursday until midday on Friday, with forecasters warning the public to be aware of the potential for disruption to transport networks.

The chief forecaster said: "A cold airstream will be in place by Thursday afternoon, bringing occasional snow showers. Two to five centimetres of snow is possible, with ten centimetres possible above about 300m."
