Cornish motorists should take care this evening as cold air from the north could bring ice to the county's roads this evening, and on into morning.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for ice which extends across almost all of the west country, stopping just a little way short of Land's End.
The national forecaster is predicting that dropping temperatures could see ice forming on roads from 4pm onwards, especially where sleet, snow or hail has fallen, and could last until noon tomorrow.
Motorists are urged to drive carefully, plan for difficult driving conditions and expect longer journey times.
The chief forecaster said: "A cold north to northwesterly airstream will maintain the risk of wintry showers through Friday night and Saturday morning."
