A motorcyclist from Helston is described as "seriously ill" in hospital following a collision with a car on the A39.

The 52-year-old man was riding his BMW motorcycle near St Teath, in the Camelford area, when it was involved in a crash with a Peugeot 207 being driven by a woman from the area in her twenties. She is understood to be uninjured.

However, police said that the motorcyclist had to be airlifted to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth by air ambulance, with a serious head injury and other injuries.

"His condition is reported as being seriously ill," added a police spokesperson.

Police are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, which took place at around 3.15pm on Saturday, to come forward.
