Police have confirmed that a body found at Watergate Bay beach near Newquay on March 15 is that of missing man John Hurst, 46, from Cubert.

Officers today confirmed that the body had been positively identified as belonging to Mr Hurst, and his next of kin have been informed.

Earlier this month police had appealed for help from the public after Mr Hurst went missing, sparking several days of searches by the coastguard, police, lifeboats and the rescue helicopter.

His body was found at Watergate Bay on March 15, and police said they were not treating the death as suspicious.
