The publicans of the Lion & Lamb at Ashton are celebrating their first year behind the bar with a major refurbishment project.

More than £130,000 has been invested in the pub on Fore Street by pub company, Punch, as part of a project that has seen the pub completely redecorated, both inside and out. The seating area at the front and the beer garden at the rear have also been improved and upgraded in time for the summer holidays.

Mark and Wendy Weston, who took over at the Lion & Lamb last August, said it was the perfect way to celebrate their first anniversary at the pub.

“We’ve had a great first year in Ashton and this investment is the icing on the cake," said Mark. "It has really improved the Lion & Lamb’s facilities and given it a smart new look. Although we haven’t been here for very long, we’ve had a warm welcome from the local community. Now we’re looking forward to celebrating both our re-opening and our anniversary with customers.”

Publican development and training manager for Punch, Helena Desave, said: “Mark and Wendy are great publicans. During their first year at the Lion & Lamb they have got to know the pub and their customers extremely well and have created a warm and welcoming environment. We are delighted to be supporting them with this investment.”
