In late July 1977 newspapers from the Helston Packet to The Financial Times ran features on the man who had bought a small Cornish fishing village for £400,000.

That man was Trevor Osborne, the village was Porthleven, and this month he is celebrating 40 years of ownership of the Porthleven Harbour & Dock Company with an exhibition at The Old Lifeboat House in Porthleven.

The exhibition, which is free to view, will run from next Tuesday, August 22 for three days until the Friday, from 10.30am to 4.30pm each day.

It will tell the story of Porthleven and the changes that have taken place, particularly over the past four decades.

Images from Porthleven photographer Carla Regler will feature as part of, along with the work of Tony Treglown who sadly died last month just before his latest book, Porthleven – A Comprehensive History, was published.

Mr Osborne said: “There have been storms, literal and metaphorical, over the years, but it’s been a great journey - much achieved and much still to do.”
