Popular 90s trip-hop band Morcheeba have been announced as the next major music act to perform at Lusty Glaze Beach.

The British band are set to bring their atmospheric, silky-voiced stylings to the Newquay cove in July 2018, as Lusty Glaze continues to build its reputation as one of the best, exclusive live music venues in Cornwall.

Morcheeba have released eight albums over the years, mixing influences from trip-hop, rock, adult contemporary, folk-rock and downtempo. Their latest album Head up High was released in October 2013, and hit songs include ‘The Sea,’ ‘Rome Wasn’t Built in a Day,’ ’Trigger Hippie,’ and ‘Part of the Process.’

This will be the second time the British band have performed at Lusty Glaze, with owner Tracey Griffiths emphasising, “We are extremely excited to announce that Morcheeba will play here again at Lusty Glaze next summer. They performed here in 2014 and were absolutely incredible. There is no better setting for Morcheeba’s laid-back summery sound than a Cornish beach at sunset!

We always try to bring incredible events and gigs to Cornwall and this will undoubtedly be one of them. It’s sure to be a night of stunning vocals, trip-hop beats and memorable melodies - with 20 years of hits and new material promised next summer, it’s going to be unmissable!”

Morcheeba vocalist Skye Edwards said, “Performing at Lusty Glaze as the sun set over the ocean in front of our eyes was an extraordinary experience! We’ll never forget the crowd singing along to ‘The Sea’ and can’t wait to return to do it all again in July.”

Morcheeba will perform as the headline act of Lusty Glaze’s 2018 Sundowner Sessions. The privately-owned beach holds a history of hugely successful musical line ups, with indie rockers Razorlight performing at Lusty Glaze in August and Guy Garvey and Newton Faulkner on stage the year before.

Hosting an audience of over 3,000 people, the beach was recently awarded the No.1 spot by The Times for ‘Most picturesque live music venues in the UK’ and Britain’s Best Beach 2017 by The Sunday Times.
