A father-of-two who was killed while walking on the A30 near Hayle a week ago has been described as a "thoughtful, gentle soul."

Tom Griffin, aged 28, from the St Erth area, died in a collision with an articulated heavy goods vehicle on the Hayle bypass between the St Erth roundabout and the Loggans Moor roundabout.

His family have now released a tribute saying: "Tom was very thoughtful, a gentle soul and a loving father of twin girls; we loved him very much.

“With his incredible talent, he recently graduated with a degree in art and design. He always loved to cook and make things for all the family. Friends always talk fondly of him and of their fun times together.

“We will miss you Tom and you will always be in our hearts - from your loving mum, dad and brothers Piers and Luke.”

Police reported that they had received a 999 call at around 7.15pm last Tuesday, with a force spokesperson saying: "The incident involved a white commercial articulated heavy goods vehicle and a pedestrian who was in the eastbound live lane.

"As a result of the incident, the pedestrian, Tom Griffin, died at the scene of the collision."

The driver of the HGV was uninjured in the incident.

The road was closed for just under six hours while officers from the Roads Policing Team and Serious Collision Investigation Team carried out a forensic examination of the scene.
