Despite poor weather leading up to St Keverne Gardeners’ Society Spring Show the event was full of seasonal colour.

Entries started arriving from 8.30am on show day, with the event held at the United Methodist Church in the village.

There was a large array of different varieties of daffodil, along with interesting entries in the pot-grown and flower arranging classes.

Mandy Pound was one of the big winners of the day, taking home prizes for the highest score in the daffodil classes, the best daffodil in show and the most points in the show.

The best photograph was judged to be by Dixie Whitmore, who collected the cup for that category. Her photo in the “Creatures Great and Small” section was of a Red Admiral butterfly.

The best exhibit in the whole show went to Sue Swift, gaining her the Cornwall Garden Society’s gold medal and a year’s membership to the county society.

Rev Fran Lane, minister for the United Methodist Church St Keverne, presented the prizes.

Show secretary Kathleen Dewer said: "The society was pleased with the support for the show, both those entering and those viewing the exhibits in the afternoon, while enjoying tea and cake."

The society’s next show will be its summer show on August 11.
