A FALMOUTH woman who set up a network group for mothers has helped to bring a comedy double act to the county.

Kate Whittington, returned to live in Falmouth with her family last year having been at the university some ten years previously.

"I set up Mothers of Cornwall to put on events for mums to enable us to get together casually and have a social networking group," said the 33 year old, who lives in the Swanvale area of the town.

"I had the idea from similar groups that are run in big cities and thought it would be good to do the same in Falmouth.

"It's a very creative place and the group has grown and grown, with lots of mums who run businesses becoming involved," she added.

Kate puts on monthly events and hopes to make some of them "child friendly" in future.

Now though, she has teamed up with two group members Rebecca Green and Lauren Gill to stage the Scummy Mummies, a comedy duo who are performing all over the country this summer.

The pair - Ellie Gibson and Helen Thorn - will come to the Guildhall, St Ives, on Thursday, July 26.

Their show celebrates the scummier side of parenting, covering a wide range of topics from pelvic floors and play-dates to farting and fish fingers.

They usually wear their trademark gold catsuits.

Tickets are priced at £15 each and on sale now at WeGotTickets.
