You may be thinking, what the "cluck" is Pollada?

Well, in Peru, if you need cash for a crisis, you invite your friends round for a chicken and beer party. They come armed with money and their best moves.

Peruvians call it Pollada.

Falmouth-based charity Cool Earth calls it a great way to save rainforest.

Cool Earth is the non-profit organisation that works alongside local communities to halt deforestation. Deforestation destroys wildlife habitat, cultural identity and contributes to 21 per cent of the world’s carbon emissions. ?

Local people stand to lose the most from deforestation but have the most to gain from its protection. As such, they are the forest's best possible custodians.

That's why all Cool Earth partnerships, from Peru to Papua New Guinea, are community owned and led - an approach that research is continually proving to be the most effective way to keep rainforest standing.

By 2020, Cool Earth can double its impact. And with villages all over the world queuing up to partner with them, Cool Earth has got big plans. To do so, they need your help.

This summer, channel your inner Peruvian and host a Pollada.

Although in Peru it’s all about chicken and beer, that doesn’t mean you need to eat meat. Or drink beer for that matter.

There are no rules, in fact one Peruvian fan recently hosted a Pollada to fund his trip to the World Cup. Just get friends and family together with some food, collect the cash for Cool Earth and you’re stopping deforestation.

It couldn’t be easier to get involved. Sign up at?c?oolearth.org/pollada and you’ll receive your free fundraising pack in the post.

Filled with bunting, invites, posters and more, it’s got everything you need to throw a forest-saving fiesta. And whether it’s a BBQ in your backyard, or a ticketed event for 500, your Pollada will help Cool Earth partner with local people around the world to save rainforest.

If six friends all give a tenner, Cool Earth can protect another acre of rainforest. Save the world, one party at a time.
