A WOMAN threw herself into the River Fal at night to try and escape a Mylor man who had assaulted her, Truro magistrates heard.

Peter Cooper, aged 45, of Mylor Yacht Harbour, tried to find her in a motorboat after she took the water near Trelissick Gardens.

He pleaded guilty to assault between June 1 and 4.

Cooper became angry when the woman burnt the meat for their dinner while having a barbecue and slapped her around the face.

She swam away but he grabbed her by the hair and dragged her into one of the cabins where he slapped her again.

Cooper was given a 16-week prison sentence suspended for two years. He must also work with the Probation Service on a relationships course and on alcohol misuse. He was also handed a restraining order not to contact his former partner.

A WOMAN who drove without insurance has been fined £660 by Bodmin magistrates.

Victoria Jayne Morrall, aged 31, of Trewellard Road, Pendeen, committed the offence on January 31 at Tolvaddon, near Camborne.

Her licence was endorsed with seven points and she was ordered to pay £85 costs and £66 victim surcharge.

A RUAN MINOR man was caught driving home for Christmas too quickly.

Sheridan Nayan, aged 46, of Glebe Place, exceeded the speed limit on the A394 near Trewennack Methodist Church on December 24 last year.

Bodmin magistrates fined him £220 and ordered him to pay £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge. He had his licence endorsed with three points.

A REDRUTH woman who drove without insurance has been fined £660 by Bodmin magistrates.

Kelly Louise Rowe, aged 33, of Monument Way, drove a Vauxhall car in Carn Brea Lane, Pool on February 10.

He licence was endorsed with six points and she was ordered to pay £85 costs and £66 victim surcharge.

A MAN who admitted driving without insurance or a licence has had eight points placed on his driving record.

Christopher Terry Curtis, aged 30, of Uglow Close, Camborne, committed the offence in a VW Golf in Truro on March 5.

He was also fined £165 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge.

A MAN has had a restraining order imposed by Truro magistrates after he pleaded guilty to assaulting a man, damaging a car and using abusive words or behaviour towards a woman.

Christopher David Wright, aged 36, of Chapel Street, St Day, damaged a Subaru Impreza on December 15 last year, before committing the two further offences on March 28 in Camborne.

The restraining order which lasts for two years prohibits him from contacting either victim.

He was fined £150 and ordered to pay £135 costs, compensation of £225 and £30 victim surcharge.

A DRINK driver has been banned for 12 months by Truro magistrates.

Lewis Carne, aged 20, of Halsetown, near St Ives, drove a Nissan Qashqai with 127mls of alcohol in 100mls in Penzance on January 10.

He was also fined £320 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £32 victim surcharge.

A 53-YEAR-OLD Camborne woman who assaulted a man has been given a 12-month conditional discharge by Truro magistrates.

Sandra Helen Warwicker-Procter, aged 53, of Havelock Estates, Roskear, admitted the offence which took place between May 29 and May 30 in Camborne.

She was ordered to pay £85 costs and £20 victim surcharge.

A DRINK driver has been banned from the roads for almost four years by Truro magistrates.

Treve Davis, aged 39, of Rosparvah Gardens, Heamoor, Penzance, drove a 125cc Honda motorbike at Gulval on November 23 when he had 190mgs of alcohol in 100mls of blood.

He admitted the offence and was disqualified for 44 months, fined £240 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £20 victim surcharge.

A 21-YEAR-OLD Camborne man received a suspended prison sentence after admitting an assault charge.

Aaron Jason Rogers, of Calumet Road, committed the offence in Camborne on February 4.

He has been banned from The Waggoners Arms, Trelowarren Street, for 12 months and his eight-week jail term has been suspended for 12 months.

He was ordered to pay £150 compensation.

A DRINK driver from Marazion was more than twice the legal limit, Truro magistrates heard.

Stephen Christopher Ord, aged 49, of Godolphin Terrace, drove a Peugeot 407 in the town on May 20 when he had 77mcgs of alcohol in his breath. The legal limit is 35mcgs.

He pleaded guilty and was banned for 20 months, fined £275 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge.

A FALMOUTH man who carried an offensive weapon has been handed a community order by Truro magistrates.

Johnathan Glen Sloggett, aged 28, of Marlborough Avenue, Boslowick, had a friction lock baton with him at Trewennack, near Helston, on March 10.

He admitted two further charges of driving a motorcycle without a licence and driving without due care and attention.

He will have to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work and was ordered to pay £85 costs and £85 victim surcharge. His driving record was endorsed with four points.

A DISQUALIFIED driver who took to the roads has received a further four-month ban.

Andrew Wyn Phillip Stanton, aged 28, of Commercial Street, Camborne, admitted the offence which took place on April 24.

Stanton, who faced a second charge of driving with no insurance, was also fined £275 and ordered to pay £80 costs and £30 victim surcharge.

A PENZANCE woman admitted destroying number plates on two vehicles and also pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly.

Natasha Blewett, aged 39, of Tregarth Place, committed the offences on June 1 in Penlee View Terrace.

She damaged the number plates of a Landrover Freelander and a Volkswagen Transporter.

She received a 12-month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay £85 costs, £50 in compensation and £20 victim surcharge.

A DRINK driver has been banned for 14 months after he admitted committing the offence on May 27.

John William Mullen, aged 55, of Pengelly Way, Threemilestone, drove a Vauxhall Vectra on Lower Hugus Road when he had 48mcgs of alcohol in his breath. The legal limit is 35mcgs.

He was also fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge.

A TRURO woman who drove an Audi TT whilst disqualified was not aware that she had been banned.

Mariella Chirulli, aged 32, of Agar Road, admitted the offence which took place on January 9 near Exeter.

She did not receive any points or further disqualification because she was unaware that she had been banned.

Chirulli, who also admitted driving without insurance. was fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £30. victim surcharge.

HAIR straighteners were destroyed by a Rosudgeon man who appeared before Truro magistrates.

George Kenneth Cozens, aged 26, pleaded guilty to the offence which took place on April 15 in Hayle.

He was conditionally discharged for 12 months and ordered to pay £135 costs, £20 victim surcharge and £30 compensation.

He also admitted possessing cannabis, for which there was no separate penalty.

A NEWLYN man has been sent to prison for six weeks after entering a supermarket from which he was banned and in a second offence, stole eight bottles of alcohol from a shop in St Ives.

Daniel John Worledge, aged 34, of Gwavas Road, entered Asda in Hayle on October 24, despite being prohibited by a criminal behaviour order made by magistrates on September 11.

Then, on November 7, he stole eight bottles to the value of £267.92 from St Ives Co-op.

He had previously been made the subject of a suspended prison sentence and as a result, he has been sent to jail for six weeks. He was also ordered to pay £267.92 compensation.
