There are reports that the much maligned Pasty Tax has been scrapped by the government.

Insiders are saying that the plan to start adding VAT to Cornish pasties will not go ahead after the government altered the definition a "hot" pasty.

The BBC's Nick Robinson is reporting that the amendment, relates to food that is cooling down, rather than being kept hot.

If confirmed the move will have come after intense public outcry and pressure from Cornwall's MP's.

An estimated 600 people summed up Cornish determination when they braved torrential rain and gale-force winds in Falmouth to protest against the so-called “pasty tax”.

Collectively chanting “What do we want? Pasties. How do we want them? Hot and tax free” the procession of protesters, from children through to people in their seventies, marched through the town.
