Tall Ships Falmouth - September 10 - 13, 2008

Falmouth will be the host port for the Funchal 500 Tall Ships Regatta.

The race is the centre-piece marking the 500th anniversary of the founding of the port of Funchal in Madeira.

Falmouth has been selected as the start for the race when up to ten large or square rigged vessels will be in the port, plus a further 20 smaller ones. The ships will be open to the public on September 10 to Friday, September 12. The start of the race takes place on Saturday September 13. There will be a Parade of Sail which will see ships going from the Docks and Carrick Roads out to Falmouth Bay for the start.

Onboard visits of the ships will be available prior to the race, plus day sails. It is planned to have street markets, concerts and theatre and fireworks in the town.
