Manacles' - Skinner's Brewing Company's new ale, specially brewed for the Funchal 500 Tall Ships Regatta was launched at Expo West today.
Staff from the brewery celebrated, alongside members of the Regatta organising team for Falmouth, the first pouring of Manacles Ale.
The ale will now be available at Skinner's outlets throughout Cornwall.
Skinner's Brewing Company is the main sponsor for the event in Falmouth and this new brew will be available throughout the town during the event and at the festival sites of Church St car park, Events Square and the Docks.
Described as an easy drinking quaffing beer with superb hoppy aromas, Manacles Ale is destined to be added to everyone's Skinner's favourites list.
It will be available in bottle throughout Cornwall from Easter onwards.
Steve Skinner was delighted with the new ale. "We are very excited at the brewery at being involved with the Funchal 500 Tall Ships Regatta this year - naming and brewing this dedicated ale is another step closer to this amazing event," he said.
A competition was held in November last year to name this specially brewed ale and the winning entry Manacles' was submitted by Andrew Turner from Praze-an-Beeble.
Skinner's creative team illustrator Nick Beringer and designer Stuart Thorn have been busy ever since, designing the label for the ale alongside posters and marketing material which will help promote both the ale and the Funchal 500 Tall Ships Regatta, which will take place from September 10-13 in Falmouth and for which the Packet is the media sponsor.
Andrew will receive a signed copy of the artwork by Skinner's illustrator Nick, a case of Skinner's Beer and will be invited to watch the start of the Funchal 500 Tall Ships Regatta from Falmouth as they head towards Ilhavo in Portugal, aboard the Tall Ship Mercedes on September 13.

Those who whimped out missed out on the Carnival held on Saturday. Torrential rain failed miserably to dampen the spirits of those taking part though the small number of spectators adversely affected the size of the charity collection.
