For anyone interested in the Cornwall fishing fleets of years gone by a new exhibition “Fishing in Cornwall in the Days of Sail and Oar” starts today at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall. This stunning new photographic exhibition explores fishing in Cornwall in the days of sail and oar. The turn of the 19th Century marked the last days of fishing by sail and oar around the Cornish coast, but this period also coincided with the wider use of photography to record such work.

RFA Argus dry-docks on 150th anniversary

The Royal Fleet Auxiliary Argus, under the command of Captain Paul Kehoe, had the honour of dry-docking on Sunday afternoon on what was the 150th anniversary of the laying of the docks’ foundation stone by Lord Falmouth on February 28, 1860.
