Work is still underway to make changes to “dangerous and faulty” ladders on Falmouth quays.
Captain Mark Sansom, chief executive of Falmouth Harbour Commissioners and harbour master, has issued another statement regarding the state of quayside ladders at North Quay and Customs House quay.

Boat owner Andrew Campbell reported the Commissioners to the HSE for having dangerous and faulty ladders on the quays.

Captain Sansom said: “We have now received further correspondence from the Health and Safety Executive relating to the health and safety management system for the quay ladders after the initial contact when we were required to make some improvements.

“At the time of issuing an update on Tuesday, July 15, regarding our progress on the required work, we understood, as a result of our discussions with the Health and Safety Executive, that the notices had been complied with and we were waiting formal notification to that effect.

“We now have official notification from the Health and Safety Executive that compliance has been met in respect of one of the notices raised and that some further work is required to satisfy the three other notices.

“A programme has been put in place to complete the outstanding work before the November deadline set by the Health and Safety Executive and all ladders can be used whilst we work towards finalising the improvements."
