The skipper of a fishing vessel which capsized in 2011, causing the death of one crewmember, will face magistrates on several charges on Monday.
Robert Hunkin, 39, of Lamoran School Hill, Mevagissey, was the skipper of the Heather May when she overturned on December 20, 2011, when Ian 'Ginge' Thomas drowned.
He will face magistrates in Truro on January 5, charged with failure to ensure that the ship is operated in a safe manner, two charges of misconduct likely to endanger ships, structures or individuals by hauling on board a catch of fish, failure to ensure the health and safety of workers, and failure to make a suitable risk assessment in respect of the removal of pound boards and insertion of a tarpaulin in the fish
hold of his boat.
