Fresh from her refit at the A&P shipyard the ASD (Azimuth Stern Drive) tug Lomax has been at the centre of a complex salvage operation in Southampton to refloat the stricken car carrier Hoegh Osaka.
Lomax which sailed from Falmouth on Christmas Eve, is part of the tug fleet serving the Fawley oil terminal and is owned by Solent Towage Limited.
The 80 ton bollard pull Lomax was one of the tugs sent to refloat the Hoegh Osaka which was apparently run aground by the pilot after the ship developed a massive 45 degrees list during the outward pilotage from Southampton.
The Hoegh Osaka remains aground on the Bramble Bank north of Cowes, Isle of Wight.
